Li called for speeding up negotiations on access to medical insurance for cancer drugs, with the largest reduction in drug prices

2018-10-26 Chinese government net

More than 3 million new cancer cases are reported every year in China, and many of the patients face the dilemma of not being able to afford the drugs, premier li keqiang said in an economic report to the 17th national congress of Chinese trade unions on Oct. 24. Since this year, China has implemented zero tariffs on imported anti-cancer drugs and stepped up efforts to speed up the negotiation on medical insurance access for anti-cancer drugs. Compared with the average retail price, the paid standard for negotiated drugs has fallen by more than 50 percent on average. The work will be done to reduce drug prices to the maximum extent possible, to try to ease the pain and financial burden of cancer patients.
